It’s not everyday that you stumble upon a cake shop with the intent to sell ugly cakes. Who could possibly open a cake shop selling ugly cakes? Well, it turns out that the founders adopted the namesake because they do not use fondant, marzipan or artificial flavouring in their cakes, which is what makes most commercial cakes visually-appealing to a mass audience. However, they believe that their cakes are more nutritionally-balanced than those sold by commercial bakeries, which is what they value more than the presentation of their cakes. Even so, the good folk at Ugly Cake Shop believe that their cakes have a certain charm, making them beautiful in their own right.

Driven by a mission to feed undernourished children in Timor Leste, Ugly Cake Shop hopes to make the world a prettier place one cake at a time by donating 20% of their profit to provide healthier meals for the children via a local Church.

Product selection

Ugly Cake Shop uses only high quality ingredients and all-natural flavouring in their cakes. Their cakes are also not too sweet, which is good for young children and the elderly. They extract natural flavouring from fresh fruit and other natural ingredients. The presentation of their cakes are simple yet visually-appealing in their own way. Ugly Cake Shop’s specialty has to be their chocolate cake. They also have a vegan chocolate cake, which is made without eggs and dairy products. Another range of cakes that deserve a shoutout have got to be their adorable Animal Cakes, which are frosted with rich buttercream to match the shape of adorable animals. Ugly Cake Shop also offers an assortment of confectionery such as brownies, cupcakes, cookies and muffins for a few quick bites.
